Summer is flying by and our fall conference is right around the corner. Greg and Jacqueline from Owl Creek Bison have been working hard to bring you a great weekend. Members who host these events put much time and planning into the weekend and it is a unique opportunity to see other bison operations and learn from producers who are making a difference in our industry. Be sure to pre-register via mailing in the form on page 5 or you can register on the EBA website at ebabison.org.
With your 2019 calf crop on the ground, it’s never too early to start thinking about what you can send to our 2020 Show & Sale. If you’re interested in showing but have never done so in the past, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d personally be happy to walk you through the process and help you succeed at our next show & sale.
If you haven’t already, now is the time to get your breeding bulls evaluated. Semen motility and morphology can change drastically from year to year, so having your breeding bulls tested can be one of the best insurance policies you can have for pregnancy rates. Never underestimate how much of an influence your breeding bull has on the success of your farm. Special congratulation to Cathie Kreager on her retirement from Cumberland Bison, LLC. Cathie has participated in EBA events for many years as their representative and was instrumental in hosting last years Fall Conference at The Wilds. Best wishes Cathie! A special get well wish is going out to Wayne Calloway. As you know he has faithfully put out this newsletter for many years. Our EBA secretary Luann took on the publication for this month during his recovery. We hope you’ll be feeling better soon Wayne, and hope to see you at the fall conference. May your bison be on a gaining plane and your pregnancy rates be high this fall!
