In February 1996, ten invited members of the National
Bison Association
met in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to discuss starting an Eastern Bison
Association. Our industry has grown sufficiently to create a need for an
organization to provide seminars, farm tours and a regional show and
sale. The number of animals in the East can now support herd expansion.
Our emphasis will be on marketing, production, animal health, public
information, research and trading breeding stock for herd improvement.
While our members come from all over the United States and Canada,
all meetings of members are currently held within the geographic
boundaries of the Association consisting of Region 1:
Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island
and Vermont. Region 2: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland,
New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
In addition to our annual conferences, show and sale and research
activities, the eastern bison Association is also involved in numerous
promotional and marketing endeavors. One of our most recent successes
was our booth at the 1999 New York Restaurant and Foodservice Show at
the Jacob Javits Conventions Center in New York.
